Pikitup's managing director Zami Nkosi has resigned from his position with immediate effect in the middle of the ongoing strike at Johannesburg's waste management company.
Pikitup communication director Gabu Tugwana says his successor will be announced at the end of the week after the mayoral sitting.
Meanwhile, the South African Municipal Workers’ Union together with the City are continuing with the negotiations to try and find a resolution to the strike.
Pikitup and the City of Johannesburg have apologised for the inconvenience caused by the strike and say emergency plans are underway to ease the pressure on uncollected garbage.
Workers are accusing Pikitup management of defrauding the company of millions of rands through corrupt tender processes.
