Negotiations continue between engineering unions and employers amid threats of further strike violence.
The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa is however holding firm on its demands for a 13-percent wage increase and the banning of labour brokers.
The strike has now entered its second week.
Meanwhile, motorists have been advised to fill up their cars as a strike in the petroleum industry kicks off today.
Fuel retailers say they cannot guarantee supplies as the strike continues, meaning reserves may dry up before the end of the week.
