A survey by Statistics South Africa has found that grants are the prevalent source of income in four of the country’s provinces.
The 2010 General Household Survey says grants are prevalent in almost 60-percent of the households in Limpopo.
In the Eastern Cape, the figure is just over 56-percent, while it is also above 50-percent in the Northern Cape and the Free State.
The Western Cape at almost 75-percent and Gauteng at just more than 74-percent have the highest percentage of households who earn an income from salaries.
