A national strike by the South African Municipal Workers Union starts on Monday.
The strike by about 200-thousand Samwu members is expected to have a major effect on service delivery at 262-municipalities across in the country.
Samwu is demanding an 18-percent salary increase, while the South African Local Government Association is offering 6-point-8-per-cent. Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is to implement a strike management plan.
Spokesperson Kupido Baron says the no work; no pay rule will apply.
