All eyes will today be on a meeting between top ANC leaders and its Youth League’s executive.
ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe announced the meeting last week amid a public spat over the Youth League’s plan to help bring about a regime change in Botswana.
The League refused to back down when publicly reprimanded over what spokesperson Jackson Mthembu called a “total deviation from and an affront to ANC policy”.
Mantashe then called the League “defiant” and said it had committed a “serious transgression”.
Commentators are divided about whether Julius Malema and the League will be seriously censured.
