President Jacob Zuma has defended government's decision to grant Swaziland a two-point-four-billion-Rands loan.

Those opposed to the loan point to King Mswati's extravagant lifestyle, saying the money won’t reach the people who need it most. South Africa says it plans to recover the funds through future revenue due to Swaziland from the Southern African Customs Union.

Zuma argues that it is in South Africa's interests not to let the Swaziland government collapse.
