Embattled Co-operative Governance Minister Sicelo Shiceka has reportedly accused the Public Protector of subjecting him to a so-called trial by ambush and presuming him guilty before giving him an opportunity to prove his innocence.

Thuli Madonsela urged President Jacob Zuma to take steps against Minister after finding that he has spent over one-million-Rands of taxpayers' money on personal trips and hotels.

Shiceka has been on sick leave since February.

According to a media report Shiceka has hit back, saying Madonsela did not give him a chance to challenge her findings.
