Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has criticised the ANC government at a news conference in Cape Town yesterday, saying it is worse than the apartheid government.
Tutu voiced his anger at the news that the Dalai Lama had to cancel his trip to South Africa, due to delays with his visa.
The Tibetan spiritual leader had been invited to attend Tutu’s 80th birthday celebrations this week.
The Archbishop repeatedly told ANC leaders to watch out and warned them against becoming too self-satisfied.
In reaction ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu says government should be afforded the opportunity to take everyone into its confidence about the Dalai Lama’s visa application and its subsequent withdrawal.
