The city of Johannesburg commemorated World Aids Day today with a health awareness march from Park Station in the city centre to Newtown Park.
The Guateng department of health was joined by hundreds of people who came to create awareness about the HIV pandemic.
Meawhile, as countries around the globe mark World Aids day today, the Eastern Cape seems to be making strides in their fight against HIV and Aids.
The latest statistics from the provincial health department show that the number of mother-to-child transmissions has drastically dropped and the prevalence of the epidemic has stabilised in the province.
But department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo says they still have a long way to go.
