Former cricket administrator Dr Ali Bacher
has shielded the R5 million bonus he received after successfully hosting the
2003 Cricket World Cup.
He has testified in the Nicholson Inquiry earlier today.
In 2011, Bacher was
drawn into the saga when Cricket South Africa (CSA) CEO Gerald Majola said he
had set the example.
The inquiry, chaired by former Judge Chris Nicholson, is looking into the financial affairs of CSA following an outcry over bonuses paid for the successful hosting of the 2009 Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.
Bacher insists that the money he received was not an incentive but merely a contribution towards his low pension.
