The family of 19-year-old Thomas Ferreira says they are optimistic that the Gauteng government will help with his medical bills.
Last year the teenager was knocked off his motorbike with the official vehicle of housing MEC Humphrey Mmemezi.
The driver of the vehicle appear briefly in the Krugersdorp magistrate’s court yesterday and the case has since been referred to the South Gauteng high court.
The family met with the MEC’s spokesperson to discuss payment options.
The teenager’s father Paul Ferreira, said that at this stage it looks as they will live up to their promises.
