The Peninsula School Feeding Association today said a growing number of patients are battling to provide their children with packed lunches.

The organisation currently feeds over 300,000 pupils at over 700 schools across the Western Cape.

Another five schools applied to join the programme.

The association’s Director Andy du Plessis said some of the biggest contributing factors are unemployment and poverty.

Du Pessis also said a number of parents have become unemployed lately.
