North West police today said that they are on the lookout for security companies that are operating illegally.
This comes after the arrest of a security company owner for the illegal possession of firearms including five pistols, a shotgun and an unlicensed r4 rifle that was linked to a 1995 crime in the Eastern Cape.
The police's Thulani Ngubane said that ammunition including a smoke grenade, 13 hollow point bullets and police ear muffs were also confiscated.
Ngubane added that the man is set to appear in court on Monday on charges of contravening the Firearms Control Act.
