The MEC in the Western Cape Donald Grant will be visiting the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute today.
500 foundation phase educators are receiving training and teaching of language and reading skills.
The MEC spokesperson Bronagh Casey said they believe and are committed to provide educators the opportunity for ongoing professional skills development.
Casey said the aim of the training is to improve the teaching skills of the educators, and in turn improving the reading and learning skills of learners.
Casey said improving the learning skills of the learners is a priority of the government.
