The ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe says factionalism is the greatest threat to the party.

Mantashe was addressing the people at the memorial lecture to honour the party’s fourth president Josiah Dube in Nyanga in Cape Town.

Mantashe reiterated that the ANC of today and yesteryear could not be the same.

Mantashe added that the ANC was alive and had the capacity to self-correct and cleanse itself.

He further said that factionalism was a big problem as it was in 1959 when the Pan Africanist Congress walked out of the ANC.
