The MEC for community Safety in the Western Cape Dan Plato will be speaking to the Western Cape Police Commissioner Arno Lamoer about plans to stop the illegal sale and distribution of alcohol in the province.

This comes after the promulgation of the provinces new liquor laws.

Plato said his department will work together with SAPS and Metro Police to ensure that illegal liquor outlets are shut down.

He added that they will ensure that police takes action against everyone involved in contravening the Act.

Plato said offenders will receive heavy penalties, seizure of assets and/or jail time.
