The ANC has said that the claim made by the DA that the party developed a youth wage subsidy is untrue.
The ANC’s Lynne Brown said that the programme was started while she was still the premier of the Western Cape.
Brown said she announced the work and skills programme for 100 000 young people.
She added that it was a limited training position and the first employers were signed up and agreed to pay all the costs.
Brown said the ANC was going to pick up the training costs only.
She also explained that in the 2009/2010 budget they allocated R10 million towards the programme.
