Controversy around the defacing of Brett Murray’s painting of President Jacob Zuma continues.
The painting was still on display at the Goodman Gallery in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
The ANC has said they will continue with legal action to have the painting permanently removed even though it is basically unrecognisable.
The Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa’s professor Kobus van Rooyen said that this is an argument for the court to weigh on the one hand an individual’s right to human dignity and privacy and on the other hand an artist’s right to freedom of expression.
