The MEC for Cultural Affairs and Sport in the Western Cape Ivan Meyer unveiled a new initiation site in Driftsands.
The aim of the site is to give the people from the local community access to the site to practice their cultural practices in terms of initiation.
Meyer said he is happy about the fantastic partnership between the community of Driftsands, the City of Cape Town and Cape Nature.
He said that this is a demonstration that if we respect and appreciate people’s culture we need to work together.
Meyer added that this is therefore a great partnership of working together.
He is very excited that the department could assist the community by living their culture.
