A man from Northern Cape Kuruman man was beheaded on Friday, allegedly because he was gay.

The local branch of the NGO Legbo says Thapelo Makutle was attacked at his place of work and then the perpetrators followed him  home.

He had apparently been involved in an argument with two other men over his sexuality.

Makutle was recently crowned Miss Gay Kuruman and took part in the Kimberley Out In Africa Gay and Lesbian Festival.
