07 June 2012

Cosatu together with seven other political organisations, the Council of Churches and the Muslim Judicial council are all opposing the Mayor of Cape Town’s plans to give American President Barack Obama the Freedom of the City Award.

Cosatu Western Cape spokesperson Tony Ehrenreich says they are calling on national government to intervene to stop this political embarrassment.

Ehrenreich added that they will continue with the campaign until there is an end to the invitation.

He says action needs to be taken by the city by the 31st of June.
