Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille has warned that South Africa must prepare for a looming drought which will increase food costs.
Staple food such as maize will mostly be affected.
She says the country must ensure that it undertakes land reform in ways that do not undermine food security.
Speaking at the University of the Western Cape, Zille identified economic inclusivity as a challenge that has to be realised so that everyone can afford to eat.
