Acting Minister of Labour Angie Motshekga said that the South African government is pleased that farm worker groups and labour unions have made the call to end the farm worker strike in De Doorns and other areas in the Western Cape.

Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, she said government has done everything in its power to bring both farmer groups and their representatives and the farm workers around the table for negotiations.

She appealed to all farm workers and all protesters to stop the vandalism.

Mothshekga added that the employment commission’s commission will meet on the 21st of November to discuss the matter of sectorial determination for the accommodations.

They will also meet with their legal team to get advice and address the legal implications.

She said that they will be in contact with the facilitators within two weeks and a report will be prepared for cabinet next week.
