WC Traffic authorities clamp down on drivers

The Western Cape Traffic Authorities held 24 roadblocks over the weekend. 

Several drivers and pedestrians were arrested for various offences.

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said a total of 2134 vehicle were stopped and 886 drivers were tested for alcohol and nineteen of them were arrested for drunk driving.

Africa said the highest reading was taken in Knysna 1,17mg.

He further said the total amount of fines issued was R174, 300.

About 2435 drivers prosecuted for exceeding the speed limit.
