The Commission for Gender Equality sent their heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and relatives of the late former Chief Justice Arthur Chaskalson.

He will be sorely missed by those who embraced him and those that he had embraced.

Javu Baloyi said that Chaskalson was a pioneer and an icon of the struggle of equality amongst all the people regardless of their race, colour, sex and their orientation.

He adds that Chaskalson is the man that oversaw and presided on cases that brought the country to this heritage.

He explains that as a country we are mourning a hero, whom the country thinks we can’t replace and someone better can’t be found.
