100 people were left homeless when
60 structures caught fire during the early hours of this morning, at the Dakela
Informal Settlement near Milnerton.
The City’s Fire and Rescue Services
sent out fire engines and emergency personnel to the scene of the incident.
Disaster Risk Management Centre
spokesperson Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said that no injuries were reported in
connection with the blaze.
“It took the fire fighters
approximately three hours to manage to extinguish the blaze” Solomons-Johannes
said.
Solomons-Johannes added that the cause
of the fire is still under investigation.
