North West Premier Thandi Modise has called for the partnership of traditional healers and other faith-based organisation in the fight against crime.

The call follows the arrest of a 30-year-old man in connection with the Lethabong double murder who was detained while consulting a traditional healer.

Modise said that the recent successes in criminal investigations have proved that breakthroughs always occur where the community is working closely with the police.

Premier Modise spokesperson Lesiba Kgwele said traditional healers should know that harbouring criminals is a punishable criminal offence.

“She said that they should put the safety of communities first before business and that failure to report criminals they know, categorizes them as beneficiaries in the criminal chain” Kgwele added.
