The South African Teachers Organization has expressed support for the South African Democratic Teachers Union in its call for the resignation of Basic Education Minister and her Director General.

SATO which comprises of teacher unions from Zambia, South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Namibia has expressed its deep concern over the rising tensions between Basic Minister Angie Motshekga and the biggest teacher union in South Africa SADTU.

SATO’s Lindiwe Motshwane said they discovered that there is an impasse on the situation where the minister withdrew with collective agreement.

Motshwane added that they think the minister is undermining the negotiation and process and condemn what the minister has done.

“We support their call that the minister should resign with immediate effect.”  added Motshwane
