The African National Congress said
it is deeply distressed by the news of yet more young lives that have been
tragically cut short in their prime through botched circumcisions.
Over the weekend it was reported
that 30 initiates died in the Eastern Cape
ANC Youth League Spokesperson
Khusela Sangoni said this is an old age custom that needs to be protected.
Sangoni also said the death toll can
never be allowed, hence they call upon government officials, traditional
leaders and parents to come together in order to prevent these deaths.
