North West Police have confirmed
that a man has been beaten and his car set alight around the Platinum belt.
North West Police Spokesperson
Thulani Ngubane said the man was assaulted and beaten on the head after that he
was pulled out of his car. Ngubane added that no arrests have been made
yet.
This happened while Members of the
Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union downed tools on Friday.
Ngubane said as he fled the scene
the perpetrators set his car alight and the police are still investigating but
there is no belief that the situation is related to the current strike at the
mine.
