Police officer injured in a shootout at Lansdowne police station

On Thursday a shootout occurred at the Lansdowne police station resulting in one police officer being injured. 

Police Spokesperson FC van Wyk said a wanted suspect entered the Lansdowne police station and handed himself to be arrested, however while police members were busy processing him two unknown suspects entered the station and one pointed a firearm to the police officer. 

Van Wyk said the wanted suspect screamed and another police officer came to check what was happening. The suspect then randomly shot the police officer and fled the scene in a white light vehicle.

“The police officer sustained an injury on the right wrist. He was rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment and he is in a stable condition we have opened a case of attempted murder the motive for this is still unknown,” van Wyk added.
