A woman arrested for concealment of birth

The Philippi East Police on Tuesday received a report of a mother that had given birth but she did not have the baby.

Police went to the woman’s house in Philippi upon arrival they found a baby boy dumped in the toilet.

The residents alleged that the woman had been hiding her pregnancy.

Lieutenant Lance Goliath said the police found that the baby was born two hours prior and was found alive.

He added that the mother was arrested for concealment of birth and will appear in court soon.

Meanwhile police arrested a 45 year-old man for possession of drugs and money laundering.

The man was arrested after police conducted a raid in Hanover Park on Wednesday evening.

Police Spokesperson Lance Goliath said police received a tip-off about the drugs in the area.

Goliath also said it is suspected that the man is not working alone in this business.

Goliath further said the drugs are estimated to be worth about R10 000 and also there was some cash confiscated by the police.
