The City of Cape
Town is in the process of recruiting law
enforcement auxiliary members across the city, with a plan to have 800 members
soon.
Mayoral Committee Member for Safety
and Security JP Smith said this week 32 of the members started duty and people
have been encouraged to join through the neighbourhood watches.
Smith said this is also going to
help the unemployed people to get on the job experience and as get to make some
incentives for themselves.
Smith added that the auxiliary
office members have the same powers as any other law enforcement officers and
they are strictly working in communities.
