Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa on Sunday told the community of Khutsong that at least 75 suspected drug dealers were arrested in six days.
Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa on Sunday told the community of Khutsong that at least 75 suspected drug dealers were arrested in six days.
The area has in recent weeks being marred
by mob justice incidents which have resulted in six people being killed for
allegedly being involved in gangsterism.
Minister Mthethwa said the reports which
claim that police are ineffective in Khutsong are not true.
Ministerial Spokesperson Zweli Mnisi said if
communities have concerns around policing there are proper structures which
they must follow and not revert to mob justice.
“We want to remind communities that mob
justice is a punishable offence in the eyes of the law” Mnisi added.
