Zuma says Madiba in critically but stable condition

President Jacob Zuma today visited Former President Nelson Mandela at his home in Houghton. 

President Zuma said Madiba is still in a critical but stable condition and he continues to respond to treatment. 

Earlier this year, Mandela spent almost three months in hospital for a recurring lung infection before being discharged on September 1st to continue treatment at home. 

Presidential Spokesperson Mac Maharaj said President Zuma conveyed the well wishes of all South Africans and those of the peoples of the world to the Mandela family and assured them that nations are united in their thoughts and prayers for him.

“In addition, President Zuma expressed the good wishes of the leaders of the Commonwealth Heads of State and Government Meeting from which he returned last night. Maharaj added.

He concluded by saying that the President used the opportunity to personally present Madiba with the Lifetime Award for Global Peace from the Mahathir Global Peace Foundation which he received on his behalf in Malaysia.
