Government has expressed its concern in the increase of human trafficking.

These as reports have revealed that people are being lured to the country with false promises of lucrative jobs.

Government Spokesperson Phumla Williams said often criminal syndicates use this as an avenue to force people into prostitution, drug trafficking or forced labour.

“The trafficking that is being reported in South Africa is a substitute of crime, unfortunately we will not be able to respond to it.

She also said those perpetrators that feel that there are victims of trafficking do not come forward and report to the police, therefore we are appealing to those who find themselves in situations where they abducted to contact the nearest law enforcement agencies to seek assistance in this regard,” Williams added.
