With results being captured today, Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille displayed a cautious optimism when asked about the provisional results for the province.

In an exclusive interview with Bush Radio News, De Lille thanked voters for choosing the party they trust. Speaking to what the Democratic Alliance will offer the people of the Western Cape, De Lille attributed the drop in unemployment among young people in the province to the implementation of their youth wage subsidy back in 2011.

De Lille said the Democratic Alliance is the only party on the province which has implemented the youth wage subsidy almost three years ago.Through that we’ve been able to make a dent in unemployment amongst young people.

De Lille said we also had over half a million internships because you need companies that would like you to have experience before you can get employed.

“For the next five years we intend to have one million internships inside government where people can learn and train De Lille added.

Meanwhile, Western Cape ANC leader, Marius Fransman, is confident the strategy employed by the ANC to canvas votes in the rural communities was a success.

Fransman went on to say, in an interview with Bush Radio News, the party is satisfied with the exponential growth it has seen in these areas, ensuring opposition parties continue to lose traction.

Marius Fransman explained the coloured vote was integral to the growth the ANC has seen in the Western Cape.

Fransman said the coloured vote in Western Cape is 48% so any party that wants to govern the Western Cape knows that it is an important vote and there’s different ways of going after that vote.

Fransman said we think we must all be responsible to go out to vote but we can say coloured rural communities are coming behind the ANC. We’ve done work on the Cape Flats you’d have seen the school campaigns; you’d have seen the skills programs in Mitchells Plain etc.

“We hope that the work we’ve done in a constructive and a positive way in those communities will see some form of yielding of results Fransman added.
