The Department of Home Affairs has
announced that it will be ready to deliver services on the 07th of May election
day. Home Affairs offices will be opened
across the country to assist citizens with the necessary enabling documents for
voting.
Departmental Spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa
said that the new Smart ID cards can be used to vote.
Mamoepa added that in this regard the
department will issue citizens who may require such enabling documents as
temporary identity certificates and afford citizens the opportunity to collect
their uncollected green coded ID books and Smart ID cards an opportunity to do
so while also issuing letters of confirmation of identity.
“All Home Affairs officials who will be
working on Wednesday 7 May, have been afforded an opportunity alongside all
other essential services to cast special
votes across the country to enable them to
serve the citizenry to the best of their ability on voting day” said Mamoepa
