Phiyega satisfied with disciplinary process of Cape Town officer

National police Commissioner Riah Phiyega said she is satisfied with the manner in which the Western Cape SAPS management handled the disciplinary case of the two officers who assaulted a naked man in Cape Town. 

One police officer was dismissed and the other resigned before the disciplinary hearing. Phiyega said SAPS members need to adhere to strict guidelines which are legislated and governed by the Constitution of the country.  

Lieutenant General Solomon Makgale said what these officers did goes against what they had been trained on and management`s belief safe policing.

Makgale said the police are happy with the outcome of the hearing that it was a dismissal and it should send a clear message to would be offenders.
