Two suspects arrested for posession of illicit cigarettes in Durban

Two suspects between the ages of 34 and 41-years-old were arrested for possession of illicit cigarettes in Durban. 

Police Spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said police from the Empangeni Crime Intelligence Unit received a tip-off of a vehicle which was transporting illegal cigarettes from eManguzi to Durban.

Once police received the description of the vehicle they started the search.

Naicker said they stopped a vehicle on the N2 transporting illegal cigarettes from eManguzi to Durban.

Naicker said nine boxes of illegal cigarettes with the street value of a R100 000 was found in the vehicle.

“The occupants of the vehicle were arrested as they both will be charged for being in possession of illegal cigarettes Naicker added.
