The African National Congress in the Western Cape said it is shocked at the death of Ward 36 Branch Chairman Charles Khanku.

ANC’s Songezo Mjongile said Khanku was killed in Phillipi on Monday night.

Mjongile said we believe that those who committed this act were clearly doing so to destabilise the community of Crossroads.

“We are therefore calling on the community that they must remain and allow the police to do their work. Equally we wish to send our condolences to the Khanku family” Mjongile added.

The motive for the murder is still unknown however police are investigating.
