Two separate accident leaves two people dead and five injured

An accident involving a truck and a bakkie left a man in his 30’s dead on the N1 near in the Old Oak Bridge in Cape Town. 

It is believed that the truck lost control and overturned and collided with a bakkie. 

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said when they arrived on scene, they found a large truck lying on its side. A wrecked bakkie sat in the middle of the road.

Meiring added that on assessment of the scene, paramedics discovered that a male patient lay trapped inside of the bakkie. Unfortunately the man had already succumbed to his injuries.

“The driver of the truck fortunately escaped any serious injuries. Provincial fire services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the lifeless body from the bakkie.” Meiring said.

Meanwhile in another accident on the N3 near Hammersdale left one person dead and five people injured. 

This is after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned.  When paramedics arrived on the scene they found the vehicle on the side of the road and one person had been ejected from the vehicle.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Santi Steinmann upon their arrival on scene they found that a motor vehicle had overturned resulting in one man tragically losing his life.

Five other occupants sustained various injuries and they were transported to various hospital after receiving treatment on scene.

Exact detail to the cause of the rollover and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
