Western Cape government launched Safely Home Pedestrian Campaign

Western Cape MEC of Transport and Public Works Donald Grant on Wednesday launched the Safely Home Pedestrian Campaign and new fatalities map. 

MEC Grant said up to 44 percent of the 1 111 road deaths in the province and 57 percent occurred in the City of Cape Town were pedestrian. 

Other shocking statistics revealed that by October 23rd this year 448 pedestrians had been killed.

Ministerial Spokesperson Siphesihle Dube said the campaign is online on twitter under the #WalkSafe which encourages pedestrians to adopt safer practices and safety roads for all, which encourages motorists to adopt more pedestrian-friendly behaviour.
