The City ofCape Town said it is
saddened by the passing of Andrew Jantjies who was a volunteer
fire-fighter.
The City of
44-year-old Jantjies died last night while
he was assisting the City of Cape Town ’s Fire and Rescue
Service with a fire on a mountain in Kommetjie.
City of Cape Town ’s JP Smith said he
collapsed after he suffered from a heart attack. He was declared dead on arrival at the False Bay Hospital .
Smith said Jantjies was an incredible asset
and has done great work in the community and as a professional attorney in his
private capacity.
“He leaves behind his wife and three
children and we will do what we can to support the family” Smith added.
