Buffalo SAPS on a mission to uproot drug dealing

Buffalo Flats Police in East London have intensified its efforts on illegal drug trade. 

In the past week four suspects have been arrested and a total of 305 mandrax tablets to the street value of just over R24 000 was seized.

During a routine patrol in the area a 22-year-old suspect was arrested this is after police spotted the suspect and he started to flee when he saw the police. 

Captain Stephen Marais said Police then immediately went to the suspect stopped and searched him. The Police found a total of 205 mandrax tablets with a street value of R16 400 on him in his possession.

Marais said it was also established the suspect was coming from Transkei all the way via taxi to purchase the drugs and was about to head back to Transkei.

Marais said the suspect was arrested, charged and detained for dealing in drugs and would be appearing in the East London Magistrates’ Court soon.

“Police vowed to continue their fight against the illegal drug trade and will act against those committing this type of crime Marais added.
