The Right 2 Know calls for the government to state whether the National Intelligence Co-ordinating Committee has developed a national intelligence estimate in relation to the threat of xenophobia in the country.

The Right2Know Campaign condemns in the strongest possible terms the xenophobic attacks in the past week, triggered by an alleged shooting of a youth by a Somali shop owner.

Right2Know’s Jane Duncan said they feel that it is very important that the government release a national intelligence estimate on xenophobia if in fact it does have national intelligence estimate because all finds that there is significant failure in terms of xenophobia.

Duncan added that one can say that it wasn’t possible to anticipate this particular attack but the point is xenophobia has been a problem in south Africa for a very long time which means that the state should pay more special attention to it.
