Three suspects aged 19 and 22-years-old appeared in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate Court on Monday for being in possession of firearm and ammunition.

The arrest follows the Mitchell’s Plain Cluster intense focus on gangsterism and drugs in the area.

The three suspects were arrested following a search of their car in Botha Street, Eastridge.

Captain FC van Wyk said the members spotted the suspects driving in a Nissan LDV in the street and they subsequently searched the vehicle and discovered the firearm and ammunition inside the vehicle

Van Wyk added that the members confiscated a 38 calibre revolver with 10 live rounds while doing a crime prevention patrol in the area.
