Two police officers aged 35 years and 44 years old were arrested on Sunday in KwaZulu Natal. The two officers have been arrested for business robbery and kidnapping.

The KwaZulu Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni said they will not tolerate criminals within the police service.

The two suspects are expected to appear in court later today.

Colonel Jay Naicker said it is alleged that the two men were performing guard duty at a shop where the group of men of the shop were forced into a taxi, hands tied and left in a sugar cane field.

Naicker said the suspects then returned to the shop and tried to unlock the safe but they failed.

“They stole radios and cigarettes before fleeing the scene Naicker added.
