Two suspects were arrested by the Durban K9 Unit following a shooting and hijacking incident at Durban North.

Colonel Jay Naicker said it is alleged that a man was accosted by three unknown armed men outside his house, who then robbed him of his vehicle.

Naicker says the two suspects will be charged for robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of unlicensed firearm as well as hijacking.

Naicker said: “A local security company was initially alerted to the incident, spotted the suspects in Glen Anil. The suspects allegedly opened fire on the security officials and there was an exchange of gun fire resulting in one of them being killed.”

“The remaining two suspects fled and were apprehended by SAPS K9 members. Two fire arms were found as well as the vehicle used by the hijackers during the robbery. Initially investigations indicate the suspect’s vehicle was hijacked from Phoenix.” Naicker continued.
