Issue of car modification under the spotlight yet again

The Congress of South African Trade Union in the Western Cape has committed to assisting in terms of guidelines to those involved in modifying their cars.

Last month the City of Cape Town as part of their actions against illegal street racers tried to clamp down on modified cars, which caused uproar.

Cosatu’s Tony Ehrenreich said they will be working with national government to set standards that apply nationally in respect of car modifications.

Ehrenreich said they believe the City of Cape Town should learn from this that they must negotiate with our people to find solutions otherwise we destroy the culture of our people and we undermine job creation in our communities that are desperately needed.

“This will serve as a model for future areas where we can work with communities to make sure that we make things better and take peoples ambitions into account” Ehrenreich added.
